Here are a few quick things to look for when choosing a contractor. When summer gets hot
and winter gets cold everyone will sell you HVAC equipment, but the reputable dealers will
make sure equipment is installed professionally, and be around next season in case anything
goes wrong. For more thorough and detailed information, Frigidaire provides a helpful tip sheet here.
Licensed/Bonded/Insured?
Washington state (and most other states) require equipment to be installed by a licensed
contractor, or the homeowner can face several thousand in fines. Hurliman Heating's contractor
license is
HURLIHA051D4.
To look up other contractors, electricians, or plumbers in Washington state, go to the
Washington State Department of Labor & Industries.
What is the total cost?
Several companies will quote you a low figure on an installation, but once the work starts or
when you get the bill added costs pile up. Make sure the price includes all required
equipment, installation, any required permits, wiring, plumbing, and taxes. Make sure and
check what forms of payment are accepted. Our prices are the final billed cost plus tax, and
we accept VISA and MasterCard as well as six month financing options.
What is the warranty?
The manufacturer's equipment and the installation are covered by two separate warranties, make
sure to get information on both. The warranty information for our first line of equipment is
available on Ruud's website. Our second line
of equipment, Frigidaire, provides the longest warranty in the industry, at eight years on all
parts and ten years on some compressors.
